After a great night of dining and enjoying some cold beers with friends we were ready to hit the road. Our adventures would see us visit Suncity Harley Davidson in Townsville before heading out on the Flinders Highway to our destination of Hughenden.
Along the way we would capture some more of the “ABC’s of Touring”.
We arrived at Suncity Harley Davidson for our first “ABC’s of Touring” photo for the day.
After perusing the store and getting our photo of course we were once again on the road. The Flinders Highway awaited us.
After a brunch stop in Charters Towers we continued on our way. A worthwhile stop along the Flinders Highway is Ju Ju’s lookout which is around 90 minutes from Charters Towers in the White Mountain National Park.
The view is amazing, so take your time when travelling along the Flinders Highway to check it out.
The Prairie Hotel is in outback Queensland, tt was built in 1860 as a horse-changing point for the Cobb & Co. stage. Time hasn’t seen it change much since then. The front railing is straddled by a row of old saddles.
On the inside, the ceilings and walls have a fine collection of relics hanging from them in true bush pub fashion. A dentist’s chair provides bar side seating.
With Hughenden being our destination we were staying at the Royal hotel, not a bad spot for an outback pub.
The Royal Hotel offers 45 units including family, single, queen and twin unit as well as some semi self-contained units.
We dined and had a few beers at the ‘Royal’ and tt had cooled down a fair bit when we ventured back to our rooms.
As the rooms had little balconies we decided to have the rest of the carton of beer we picked up in Bowen and smoke another cigar. The cold beers and the cool weather soon had a chilled and we beat a retreat to the comfort and warmth of our rooms.
