Today we would be venturing along some of the Victorian Silo Art Trail. Our destination today was Warrnambool. Whilst we new we would be in colder weather in Victoria we weren’t really prepared for the -2.5°C once we hit the road.
Being in the car we were obviously warm, the first couple of stops were a bit fresh though.
The Silo Art Trail is a fabulous concept breathing life into many towns and communities that have been forgotten and bypassed by time. When rail was “king” these were busy hubs for the local farmers to get their grain transported to mills or export.
Take the time to cruise from town to town and see the art work of renowned street artists from Australia and across the globe.

A huge downside of rural Victoria and the current economic climate is service stations are unmanned and if the EFTPOS is not operating you are screwed for fuelling up.
We found 3 service stations closed along the day and with the EFTPOS not working we had to chance the next town to fuel up, We were 500 metres short of the service station. so a walk for a fuel container to get us there was needed. Needless to say I was far from happy. So my advice is to fuel up often and don’t rely on service stations being open.
Our adventures today also included visiting the Log Lock Up at Warracknabeal and Woods’ Farming and Heritage Museum at Rupanyup.
A short walk from our accommodation was The Cally Hotel. so we walked down for a couple of drinks and an easy dinner.

We stayed at the Redwood Manor Motel Apartments. A very handy spot, it was a bit odd that we never met any staff for the place. Keys were ready for us and the drop box meant no staff were to be seen.
