December meant it was time for a trip to Sydney.

Once again we went down to the The Rocks in Sydney it’s one of our favourite destinations in Australia. Circular Quay, the Harbour Bridge, the Opera House and so many places to have a cold beverage.

When we go to The Rocks we normally stay at The Rendezvous, this time we decided to stay at the Harbor Rocks Hotel. Both motels have pros and cons, the Harbour rocks has better rooms. They are much smaller though, whilst The Rendezvous has lifts to the upper floors. If I was to choose between the two I’d probably pick The Rendezvous.

As with past trips we generally walk everywhere once we get to The Rocks, anywhere from Darling Harbour, The Royal Botanic Gardens, The Opera House and of course all of the drinking establishments above. It isn’t a cheap place to stay, but there is something about The Rocks that makes it a place to visit over and over again.

We paid a visit to Chinatown and had the best yum cha meal I’ve ever had at the Marigold. The dishes just kept on coming and the variety was great. I’d definitely go again when I visit Sydney next time.

The screen grabs below give an idea of how much walking we do.

This year we also went out to Bondi Beach via train and bus, the prices the Bucket List charge for beers is piratical. We paid $27 ADU for 2 schooners of beer and a bucket of chips. A similar feed at the sailing club at Yeppoon would have been $10 AUD cheaper. I get the idea it’s Bondi Beach but seriously it seems to be a rip off.

We also tried El Camino Cantina Tex-Mex Restaurant in The Rocks, we’d been here before and found it ok. This time the service was pathetic. We got shown to a table and got given menus and after that no one approached us for drink or meal orders. After 15 minutes we decided we’d had enough and left.

If we hadn’t done enough walking around we decided to walk over to Wooloomooloo and check out Harry’s Cafe de Wheels a long standing iconic food stop. After have a feed we walked back through the Royal Botanical Gardens with the accompaniment of light rain. To think I had a waterproof jacket back at the motel for such an occasion.

Alas, all good things must come to an end. Until next time Sydney.
